9 lives, first present

Audrey's birthday is today. She didn't seem to want a big fuss this year. No treat for her class, she didn't wear the birthday sash to school, she didn't even want cake today. BUT! There is a but, there is always a but, (with kids) she is having a party. Saturday, at the pool. A pool party in Novemember. We must live in San Diego.

I did not want her day to go unnoticed however. So she got to open her big present from Robert and I. (If I may take a moment, to boast, I am so proud that I found this, I knew she would love it) http://www.toysie.com/funflystick.html
It is a magic wand, that levitates things! How could I have gone wrong! For the last 3 weeks, I have gone around telling Audrey she is going to love her present, and that she wanted it really bad, but didn't know that she wanted it! Boy was I right!

She opened it and was a bit confused to say the least. After I helped her open it, and Robert told her a bit about what it was, she was so excited. It is not after 8 and she has been playing with it since she opened it after school about 1.

Feeling Groovy

So, last week, I wrote and said I was going to start implementing a morning routine, and Alison asked for weekly updates. I think that is a great idea, to keep me honest so to speak. Then I read a quote just now...

I do believe the universe will direct me on my path, and I take this as a bright flashing markey! In the last week, I have gotten dressed before 9am everyday! That right there is a success! I went to the gym Wed, Thurs, Mon, and Wed. I also went for a run during Audrey's soccer practices on Wed, Mon and Wed. I figured why not? She practice in the middle of the oddest shaped track, so it is right there. A few times she and I even passed each other and exchanged high 5's! This track is the squarest track I have ever seen; very short and squat. I think the odd shape is useful in running PFT's. I think that also determined the size. A certain number of laps is a perfect 3 mile run for PFT's. I don't know really. I am guessing.

I feel good. I feel like I am getting somewhere. I have had to beefy up my routine, as I think that I have reached a plateau . I loved loved loved the yoga class I went to on Mon, and that will be a staple from now on. The yoga class I went to on Wed, was not so good. Kinda slow, kinda boring, but next week it is being taught by the teacher from my Monday class! Yipee! I don't really pick the classes I go to by the class. Nope. I pick them on the time of the class. :)

Yesterday, Jason Lewis, (Smith Jerrod from the wonderful Sex in the City) was on CSI. Then tonight James Tupper (Jack Slattery from Men in Trees) is on Samantha Who? I am glad to see that these actors are getting work. Seeing them makes me miss their old shows even more. *Sigh*



GEEZ! I just published this, and turned on Raising the Bar to find Dr. Pratt/Mekhi Phifer. Three in one day.

An Afternoon at the Beach?

Well, it didn't start out as an afternoon at the beach, that is for sure. It was originally a trip to SeaPort Village. When we got there, it was then I realized the shoes for PJ that I was exchanging were from Ferry Landing in Coronado. So we went there. With the beach right there, who can resist, but to take off our shoes and play in the sand. It was slightly overcast, and "sprinkling" so there was no going in the water... all that and I had not planned for water play, as we were going to SeaPort Village right?

PJ tried really hard to go in the water! She managed to get a tiny bit wet.

The store that I was returning the shoes at, still didn't have any cute ones, but claim to be "getting a shipment in the next two weeks", so I still have not exchanged shoes, but we sure had fun at the beach, and a wonder talk and time together at Village Pizzeria afterward.

Family Game Night +1

About a month ago, I started a family game night. Written on the calendar's and planned ahead, we have a family game night. Jazmin missed the first, she spent the night at a friend's house, who was moving shortly after that. This past Saturday was the second game night. Our good friend Erin was in San Diego for the weekend, and joined us for Game Night. It was fun for all. We made homemade pizza, had smoothies, and played PictionaryMan. After the kids went to bed, Erin and I chatted until the wee hours of the morning. After everyone was awake I made German Pancakes, we chatted some more, and then Erin hit the road to get back to 29 Palms.

That was it. I gave up. I knew I was racking leaves in the wind. Jazmin was a 'Ancient Egyptian Goddess'. I think her make up turned out pretty well, if I can toot my own horn for a minute.

Audrey was a flapper from the '20's. She must have thought that it was totally obscure because she kept asking everyone if they knew what she was. And was totally shocked when they all knew she was a flapper. (shh... it is her tap costume from last year repurposed. All we did was add a boa, head band and boots, and took away the tap shoes). But in the end she really loved it!

So, obviously PJ did not 'do' trick or treatin'. I pushed her in her stroller as we walked the neighborhood. But still, she looks so cute. This is the same costume as last year... still too big.

Drop and Roar Dinosaur

Another toy that was given to us, minus the balls. I also ordered some for this very exciting dinosaur. For PJ thus far however, her favorite part seems to be climbing on, over, and around him. I don't think the dinosaur minds much.
